my gripes: tan carpet; and a bedroom in front of the house

Here you can see the tall bright windows. I would love to put plantation shutters on these, someday..

The room was large enough to add a seating area.  The wall behind was great space to add a large piece of art.

The desk is made out a wood door that I found on the side of the road.

 

I created a feature wall using a wall stencil to give the room interest and color.  I also recovered an old boring lamp shade with extra fabric from my dining room chairs.
